I have always checked in on the number of clicks that I had received from adsense during a day. I get really excited when I see a high number of clicks; I get frustrated when I don’t get many at all. It is very difficult to increase the number of clicks without changing your website style. By style I mean content. You must change the way you write your articles and posts.

When I first started running websites, I made the huge mistake of solely focusing on search engine optiization and getting more traffic. Every time I would make a new post, I would repeat the post title 4 or 5 times within the post itself, thinking that I was helping myself get a lot more traffic. I never really noticed an increase in the amount of traffic, but as I would proof read my post, I would realize how stupid it sounds to repeat the same phrase every 3 sentences. I was not writing for my readers, I was writing for the search engines. Big mistake. Sure, search engine optimization is very important and I would have kept on writing the same way if I was running a business site. However, as you may have noticed, I am not running a business site, I am running an informational website. My site must appeal to the readers. I know that now, and I have changed the way that I write to specifically cater to the readers. I try to put my articles together in a fashion that allows people who are not educated on internet marketing or making money online to understand.


My goal at first was to make enough money from adsense to cover the costs of running this site. I have already accomplished that. My next goal was to make enough money to pay for gas for my vehicle. I have just accomplished this goal and am moving on to my next one, which is to cover my car insurance as well. This means that I would probably need around 800 unique adsense clicks per month. 800 may not seem like a lot, considering you may have that many people go to your site per day. However, your click through rate (CTR) may only be 1%, meaning that only 8 people click on your ads per day or about 240 people per month. Going from 240 to 800 is possible with in one month, all you need to do is to write for the people, write timeless content, and write content that is unique. Search engines will intentionally exclude your page from their index if you have the exact same article as “site A.”


Original content is key to an increase in traffic. Try to write articles that you have never seen before. The best thing about original content is that people will continue to return to your website in order to read all of the original content. Original content does not mean you have write a novel on a subject and do in depth research, it means that you should search the web for information about a topic and present it in a manner that has not been done before. Slideshows, videos, and just about anything you can imagine are great ways of gaining traffic through content. Sadly enough, some people are more likely to watch a video about a subject than take 3 minutes to read twice as much information.
