Using Search Engines to get traffic

Picking up where I left off on my last post, using search engines to get traffic is a very important step in having a successful website. After all, a website is nothing without visitors.

Generally speaking, there are two ways to get traffic from search engines.

1. Create a lot of quality, timeless content on your website.

2. Buy links from other websites.

Okay, it is time for me to be completely honest…if you don’t have quality content, I am almost certain that no self-respecting website will link to your site. Chances are slim you will get any incoming links for the first month or two unless you just have some outrageously unique content. Everybody and their brother has a website…so what will make yours different?

1. The timeless content is self explanatory. While it is perfectly acceptable to post time relevant content, that type of content will attract visitors now but not in the future. Some topics are semi-timeless, such as “Google Adsense.” When I say “semi-timeless” I mean that the content is and will be relevant and therefore sought after for as long as “Google Adsense” stay unchanged. If Google were to revamp the Adsense system, then the content may not be relevant any longer. Semi-timeless content is great and much easier to write aswell. The main thing is to update the article if it ever becomes outdated, if you do that…then you should keep seeing steady traffic.\

The main reason I endorse timeless content is that it is much less work to maintain in the long run. If you can get the same number of people to look at the article now as you could when you first posted it, you have created a steady stream of traffic with a single session of writing. This means more money for less time, which is always a goal when making money online.

2. Buying links is recommended when some people may not be as creative or good at writing as others. Buying links will get you good traffic if you buy the links from reputable, high traffic, topic relevant sites. Sure, you could go and put your link on a forum and get one or two dozen people to go look at one page of your website, but it is nothing compared to the traffic you will get from a link. Most popular websites will link to your site for free if you have great content, otherwise, you may be required to pay a one time fee or a monthly fee to have your site linked to. Google appreciates links as well as great content when your site is being spidered. High traffic sites are spidered by googlebot more often than low traffic sites aswell, so you should see a permanent increase in traffic once you are successfully linked to.

There is nothing wrong with buying links, but it isn’t my style. My goal is to make as much money online as possible, while spending the least amount of money possible.

One thing that you should do regardless of which above option you will take is to submit your website to online directories. Even if people do not go to your site directly from the directory, search engines will see your links in the directory and rank your website higher, meaning more traffic for you.

Some directories are:

01webdirectory, abilogic, ezilion, linketeria, dmoz,

Go to the above and submit your site. If your site is of decent quality, I will be more than happy to link to it from here. Just comment this article.
